Tourette syndrome is not only expressed through visible movements or sounds. Sometimes the most exhausting symptoms occur inside the mind, where intrusive thoughts, images or impulses can repeat for hours and become extremely difficult to dismiss.

In this episode, we explore what obsessions really are, why the brain can become trapped in a repetitive thought and how these experiences differ from mental tics. We also examine the anxiety, fatigue and invisible mental rituals that can accompany obsessive thoughts, affecting concentration, sleep, work and relationships.

Finally, we discuss strategies that can help reduce their intensity, including learning to recognise intrusive thoughts without automatically reacting to them, reducing general stress and protecting sleep and recovery. The aim is not to force every unwanted thought to disappear, but to understand why it occurs and gradually reduce the control it has over everyday life.
